AmericanHort demonstrates commitment to pesticide safety and the stewardship of pesticide products by joining the Growing Matters coalition in submitting comments on Docket EPA-HQ-OPP-2023-0428

Petition Seeking Rulemaking for Registration of Neonicotinoid Insecticides and Other Systemic Insecticides.

The Growing Matters Coalition, established in 2013, is a group dedicated to promoting scientific discussion regarding the stewardship and benefits of neonicotinoid insecticides in North America. Its members include major companies such as BASF, Bayer, Mitsui Chemicals Agro, Syngenta, and Valent U.S.A., represented by individuals from various fields related to communications, government affairs, industry relations, regulatory matters, and science. The member companies jointly commissioned a thorough evaluation of the economic and societal benefits of neonicotinoid insecticides across various agricultural sectors, which was conducted by AgInfomatics, LLC, an independent agricultural consulting firm. The research findings were disseminated through reports, resource materials, and peer-reviewed articles. The coalition has shared this information with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA). AmericanHort is proud to join the Growing Matters Coalition in submitting comments to the EPA regarding a petition seeking rulemaking for the registration of neonicotinoid insecticides and other systemic insecticides, addressing concerns about efficacy data and assertions made in the petition.
