The Shippers’ Coalition, of which AmericanHort is a member, called on the Biden administration to take immediate action to address significant shipping disruptions. These disruptions, including rail embargoes affecting trade with Mexico, potential labor strikes at East and Gulf Coast ports, and low water levels on the Mississippi River, threaten to severely impact the movement of agricultural products. The coalition urges the administration to intervene in labor negotiations, provide emergency support for truck drivers, restore rail trade with Mexico, and dredge the Mississippi River to ensure the continued flow of goods. Without swift action, these challenges could further strain U.S. agriculture and lower farm prices.
