AmericanHort and Over 100 Business Coalitions Send Letter on CTA Data Retention
AmericanHort joined a coalition of business groups asking the U.S. Department of the Treasury to delete ownership data collected from U.S. businesses under the Corporate Transparency Act and to finalize rules exempting domestic companies from reporting. Although businesses are no longer required to report, retaining sensitive ownership information for these businesses creates unnecessary privacy and cybersecurity risks. It also adds regulatory uncertainty for employers already navigating complex labor, tax, and compliance obligations. The letter highlights privacy and cybersecurity concerns, ongoing legal challenges to the CTA, and the need for certainty for small and family-owned businesses, including horticulture operations.
