Farm Groups Request White House Action on Specialty Crop Relief

AmericanHort, alongside more than 50 agricultural organizations, sent a letter to President Trump urging swift action to deliver meaningful relief for American farmers, ranchers, and specialty crop growers. The letter highlights compounding challenges, including extreme weather, rising fuel and fertilizer costs, and global supply chain disruptions, and states these pressures threaten both the 2026 growing season and the long-term viability of U.S. agriculture.

The letter calls on the Administration to include targeted agricultural relief in any upcoming supplemental package to ensure producers can remain viable and continue supplying food, fuel, and fiber nationwide.

AmericanHort, along with the Specialty Crop Farm Bill Alliance, has consistently advocated for robust economic support for specialty crop growers – who account for roughly one-third of U.S. farm gate value. While recent USDA programs have provided some relief, the letter underscores the need for additional assistance to stabilize operations and prevent further losses across the horticulture sector.
