AmericanHort Calls for Continued Suspension of Vessel Fees
AmericanHort joined a broad coalition of agricultural, business, and transportation organizations in an October 30 letter urging U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer to extend or permanently suspend Section 301 fees on China-built and China-linked vessels. The coalition warned that resuming the fees would increase shipping costs, disrupt carrier service, and create additional uncertainty for U.S. importers and exporters. For horticultural businesses that rely on ocean freight to move plants, growing media, equipment, and other inputs, these added costs could place further pressure on operations. The letter supports strengthening U.S. shipbuilding capacity through sustained investment and a long-term maritime strategy while preserving affordable, reliable transportation for American businesses. AmericanHort continues to advocate for trade policies that reduce costs and support dependable access to international markets.
