AmericanHort asks to Capitol Hill to hold EPA Accountable on FIFRA – Endangered Species Act Implementation

Access to pesticides is crucial for farmers and users including the horticulture industry to protect plants and crops, infrastructure, and public health. Compliance with legal obligations, such as the Endangered Species Act (ESA), is essential for pesticide registrations, but recent proposals risk hindering meaningful pesticide use. Further efforts are needed from agencies such as the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), United States Department of Agriculture (AWS), and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) to address concerns and revise ESA implementation to ensure continued access to pesticides while meeting regulatory requirements. AmericanHort joins 26 agricultural organizations in sending a briefing paper to Capitol Hill highlighting where Congressional oversight is needed through this implementation process.
