AmericanHort Calls for Continued Support for USDA’s Pesticide Data Program

AmericanHort joined over 35 agricultural organizations in signing a letter to USDA Secretary Brooke Rollins calling for continued support for the Pesticide Data Program (PDP), an initiative administered by the Agricultural Marketing Service. The letter highlights PDP’s importance in providing reliable, science-based pesticide residue data on agricultural commodities in the U.S. food supply. This data is used by the EPA for dietary risk assessments, by the FDA and other agencies for food safety oversight, and by the USDA’s Foreign Agricultural Service to support global market access. The letter underscores that specialty crops rely on the PDP to maintain consumer trust and defend against misinformation around pesticide safety. While AmericanHort supports the administration’s efforts to streamline government operations, we believe the PDP is a proven, cost-effective program that should be preserved with adequate funding and staffing to continue supporting both the agricultural industry and public health.
