mericanHort Calls on EPA to Preserve Resources for the Office of Pesticide Programs
On March 24, 2025, AmericanHort joined the Minor Crop Farmer Alliance in calling on EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin to ensure the Office of Pesticide Programs (OPP) has the staffing and funding needed to fulfill its responsibilities under FIFRA. The letter emphasizes that timely review and re-registration of crop protection tools are essential to the nursery and specialty crop sectors. With OPP staffing now below 500, down from 770 in 1994, further cuts risk delays, reduced access to vital tools, and weakened public trust. We urged the EPA to maintain a strong, well-resourced OPP to support science-based regulation and a safe, competitive agricultural industry.
