AmericanHort and Other Industry Associations Urge President Biden to Prevent Port Disruptions and Protect Supply Chain Stability
AmericanHort, along with 177 other state and national trade associations, sent a letter to President Biden calling for urgent action to prevent disruptions at East and Gulf Coast ports. Negotiations between the International Longshoremen’s Association and the U.S. Maritime Alliance have stalled, and with the current contract expiring on September 30, there is a real threat of a coastwide strike. Such a strike could harm the economy, disrupt businesses, and slow the movement of essential goods. We urge the administration to step in quickly to keep negotiations going and ensure that port operations remain uninterrupted.
