Aid in Supporting Congressional Candidates

AmericanHort Political Action Committee (PlantPAC) enables leaders in horticulture to support Congressional candidates who stand behind small family farms and green industry policies that enable businesses like yours to succeed.

Funded solely by individual and personal contributions to support candidates in compliance with federal law, PlantPAC:

  • Reminds candidates that our industry touches every community
  • Gives our industry a stronger voice

How It Works

Contributions to PlantPAC provide resources needed to support candidates who prioritize policies that sustain and grow the horticultural industry. Your involvement ensures both your and the industry’s interests are represented at the highest levels of government.

Federal law requires political action committees (PACs) sponsored by corporate-based trade associations, such as AmericanHort PlantPAC, to first obtain approval from a member company before communicating with eligible individuals about PAC activities.

Once this approval is granted, you will be able to receive updates on AmericanHort PlantPAC—including invitations to events—and will be eligible to contribute.

Under Federal Election Commission rules, contributions to PlantPAC may only be made by U.S. citizens who are salaried employees of an AmericanHort member company. This also includes shareholders, retirees, and their family members.

Federal law prohibits corporations from donating directly to candidate campaigns, but individuals and certain types of Political Action Committees (PACs) are permitted to make contributions. Amounts are voluntary but subject to federal contribution limits.

AmericanHort PlantPAC funds are used exclusively to support federal candidates. As a bipartisan PAC, PlantPAC backs candidates who demonstrate a commitment to policies that strengthen and advance the horticulture industry.

Contribution decisions are carefully reviewed by the AmericanHort Advocacy Committee, taking into account a candidate’s record on issues important to members, their committee assignments, and their overall voting history.

Support PlantPAC today with a personal contribution. You can give online with a personal credit card or by mailing a personal check.

Contributions to AmericanHort PlantPAC are not tax-deductible. Individuals may give up to $5,000 per election cycle. For contributions totaling more than $200 in a calendar year, we are required to report your name, address, occupation, and employer.
