The Partnership to Protect Workplace Opportunity (PPWO), AmericanHort and 243 other organizations urged the U.S. Department of Labor to abandon the proposed 69 percent increase to the minimum salary for the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) exemption. PPWO members believe that employees and employers are best served with a system that promotes maximum flexibility in structuring employee hours, career advancement opportunities, and clarity for employers in classifying their employees under the FLSA. If implemented as written, the Proposed Rule will result in many employees being reclassified as non-exempt, with significant consequences for both the reclassified employees and their employers.
