AmericanHort Advocates for Action on Port Congestion

AmericanHort recently joined 220 trade associations in calling on the Trump Administration to take swift action to prevent supply chain disruptions linked to shifting tariff policies. In a letter to the Secretaries of Transportation and Commerce and the Chairman of the Federal Maritime Commission, the coalition raised concerns that the recent tariff changes, particularly the surge in cargo following the 90-day pause on China tariffs, are creating bottlenecks similar to those experienced during the pandemic. These include container shortages, vessel delays, rising freight rates, and foreign port congestion. The letter calls for the reactivation of the White House Supply Chain Disruption Task Force and coordinated engagement with ocean carriers, ports, rail, trucking, and warehousing partners to ensure system-wide readiness and protect the competitiveness of U.S. importers and exporters.
