The AmericanHort Salary & Benefits Benchmark Survey Guides Critical Staffing & Compensation Decisions Without the Guesswork

In an industry marked by evolving labor demands and rising employment costs, AmericanHort is helping greenhouse and nursery growers and garden retailers make more informed workforce decisions through its annual Salary & Benefits Benchmark Survey.

The 2025 survey launches today and will be open through September 26, 2025. All horticulture businesses are encouraged to participate. Those who complete the survey will receive a comprehensive report that provides industry-specific insights into compensation, staffing, and benefits—essential tools for improving recruitment, retention, budgeting, and overall human resource strategy.

“The Salary & Benefits Benchmark Report is one of the most valuable resources we offer our members and industry partners,” said Ken Fisher, president and CEO of AmericanHort. “It provides trusted data that eliminates guesswork and helps businesses compete more effectively for talent in today’s challenging labor market.”

The report delivers detailed compensation data for 34 job titles across a wide range of roles—from executive leadership and operations managers to production staff and retail sales associates. It also includes trend analysis on employee benefits, organizational staffing structures, and key demographic information.

Participants gain access to:

  • Up-to-date salary benchmarks across job roles and business types
  • Detailed benefits data including healthcare, retirement, PTO, and incentives
  • Comparative analysis based on company size, region, and segment
  • Aggregated, anonymized data from peer businesses in the green industry

Data is collected and managed confidentially by Industry Insights, a trusted third-party research firm. Individual responses are never shared, and all results are reported in aggregate only.

“This survey is straightforward to complete, and the value of the report far outweighs the time investment,” said Karen Limbert, vice president of operations and finance at AmericanHort. “The resulting insights help businesses build competitive compensation packages that attract and retain high-performing employees—something that’s never been more important.”

The final Salary & Benefits Benchmark Report will be released in early December and is available exclusively to survey participants.
