The 2026-27 Board of Directors Elections is Now Open for Nominations
The AmericanHort Board of Directors are comprised of members who volunteer their time and expertise to drive growth, foster innovation, and have a deep commitment to helping the industry prosper.
The Board also represents the full spectrum of horticulture businesses, ensuring all segments have a voice.
Key Responsibilities
- Set and review the organization’s budget, strategies, and goals
- Oversee business operations and address emerging risks and opportunities
- Select and support the AmericanHort CEO and key management
Board members serve three-year terms, with the next term beginning July 2026. Join us in strengthening and uniting the horticulture industry—submit your application or nomination between January 19 and February 13, 2026.
Selection Process
AmericanHort seeks respected industry leaders who are committed to serving the broader membership. Ideal candidates should demonstrate:
- Industry leadership and perspective
- Strategic big-picture thinking
- Sound judgement and governance mindset
- Collaboration and professional integrity
- Time, energy, and commitment
Board members are selected by peers for their industry knowledge, leadership, and commitment to advancing horticulture. AmericanHort will officially install newly elected directors and officers during the membership meeting held at Cultivate’26, in Columbus, OH.
Nominating Committee
The nominating committee is led by Immediate Past Chairman, Ed Overdevest, Overdevest Nurseries LP, NJ, and includes:
- Board Chairman, Kent Fullmer, Fullmer’s Landscaping, Inc.
- Board Vice Chairman, Derek Clark, South Central Growers
- Board Treasurer, J. Harvey Cotton Jr. Horticultural Consultant and Author
AmericanHort has instituted strategic goals, which guide objectives for the association and for the Board to utilize.

Eligibility
Only owners and employees of Class A Member Companies (Basic, Plus, and Premium Company Members) or Class B Members (individuals engaged in academic studies or in the horticulture industry as a profession but not affiliated with a company qualifying for Class A membership) may submit an application.
